The CEI Program

The Certified EC-Council Instructor (CEI) program is designed for individuals who want to become certified to deliver EC-Council’s suite of professional certification programs. The CEI program provides resources for individuals to become industry-recognized trainers specializing in the field of information security.

All of EC-Council instructor-led training combines lectures, technical demonstrations, and hands-on labs. Certified EC-Council Instructors are required to be technically proficient with good instructional skills. The instructors need to maintain a high standard of professionalism and teaching preparedness.

Requirements to become a Certified EC-Council Instructor

To apply to become a Certified EC-Council Instructor (CEI), you must:

Submit completed and signed CEI Application Form and the Agreement.
If you are not an existing certified trainer for other major certification programs (eg., MCT, CTT+, etc), you will need to pass the CEI Exam.
You must be certified in the program that you intend to teach (eg., to teach CEH, you will need to hold the CEH certification, and additionally, if you then want to teach CHFI, you will need to be CHFI certified).
Ensure you have updated your EC-Council Continuing Education (ECE) credits through the Delta Portal (found within the Member's Portal) as your certification status must be in good standing.
An EC-Council Accredited Training Center (ATC) will need to endorse your application. In case there is none, EC-Council may, at its discretion, endorse the application.
You must possess technical expertise and hands-on experience with security technologies and applications.
When a CEI application is approved, EC-Council will send an email notice to the CEI detailing the access to the CEI Resources and this will be followed by a physical CEI Certificate which will be mailed to the CEI within 2 months from date of approval.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the CEI agreement, all CEIs have exclusive rights to use the CEI logo for web sites, business cards, marketing materials, and other documentation.

Dedicated Support and Communications :

You have access to internal EC-Council training experts who will address any instructional queries or feedback which concerns the curriculum, exercises, and setup requirements of the course(s) you are certified to train.

EC-Council Instructor Exam 312-75

If you are not already a certified instructor for other major certification training program (to be approved at the discretion of EC-Council), you will be required to pass the EC-Council Instructor Exam 312-75.

This exam covers the following objectives, among others, and will prepare the potential instructor towards achieving instructional excellence:

Analyze EC-Council course material and learner information
Assure preparation of the course
Establish and maintain instructor credibility
Manage the learning environment
Demonstrate effective communication skills
Demonstrate effective questioning skills and techniques

A. CEI Application:

How can I apply to become an EC-Council Instructor?

Thank you for your interest in signing up for the Certified EC-Council Instructor (CEI) program.
To apply to become a Certified EC-Council Instructor (CEI), you must:

Submit completed and signed CEI Application Form and the Agreement. You can download the application form here.
Provide us with a certification from a recognised body that you are a certified trainer or an experience letter from a recognized Academic body/ University/ College where you have been actively involved in training or related services.
If you fail to provide any of the above you will need to pass the CEI Exam. The CEI courseware is available on our online store at http://store.eccouncil.org/product/cei-v2-electronic-courseware-only-2
You must be certified in the program that you intend to teach (eg. to teach CEH, you will need to hold the CEH certification, and additionally, if you then want to teach CHFI, you will need to be CHFI certified).

B. CEI Policy:

Is my CEI certificate enough to become an EC-Council Trainer?

Under what conditions can I lose my CEI status?

You can lose your CEI status which means you will no more be Authorized to deliver an EC-Council program if:

You do not have an Active Sponsor who is an EC-Council Authorized Training partner.
Your certification is not in Active status, which means you failed to comply toward the ECE scheme.
EC-Council has decided to end your services based on a case against you which violates the Code of Ethics mentioned in the CEI agreement. This may result in termination without warning.
Poor evaluations received on either your instructional abilities or your technical knowledge. And you fail to show evidence to work towards improving these.
EC-Council has send you notification’s indicating violation of the process and rules laid in the agreement and you have failed to provide an acceptable explanation or proof to ensure that the actions will not be repeated.

What If my sponsor/ training centre is no more and EC-Council Authorized Training provider?

Why should CEI’s encourage students to complete training evaluations?

EC-Council encourages CEI’s to ensure that each of the students attending the class completes the evaluation and share their feedback via the Aspen Evaluation forms.

The Evaluations not only help EC-Council to collect feedback that can help CEIs deliver better but are used during Award nominations and decisions when EC-Council rewards the CEIs.

For Students who choose to do training prior to attempt the exam Evaluation forms are mandatory for them to receive their certifications upon passing the exam.

What additional Material will I receive as a CEI?

Criteria

Must be a current Certified EC-Council Instructor in good standing, for a minimum of 24 months.
Must have consistently contributed to various causes of EC-Council - contribution of exam questions, speaking/presenting on any EC-Council platforms, shared instructional best practices, shared knowledge to the information security community, etc.
Must have no less than 5 years of technical training background in the infosec field.
Overall evaluation feedbacks (MTM or ECC-EVAL) must be above 80%.
Must have conducted a minimum of 6 EC-Council training per 12 months period, over the past 24 months.
Must conduct a minimum of 3 CEI briefing sessions a year.
Must be certified with the latest versions of EC-Council certification - related to field of expertise.

Process

A Master Trainer must be nominated by an EC-Council Authorized Training Center, Distributors, or EC-Council Country Manager.
Fill in Master Trainer Application Form including MTM scores and/or ECC EVAL scores with a 10 minutes recording of an actual EC-Council training topic.
Allow 8 weeks for interview and selection process.
EC-Council will make an announcement on appointment of Master Trainer .

Check the Certification Status of any EC-Council Certified Instructor worldwide by writing to [email protected] (No free e-mail accounts please). Send us a mail with the instructor's full name and we will send you a reply within 48 hours.
